Brand: SmartipantsSizing: One-SizeDrying Time: ExcellentEase of Use: Excellent
Designed by Jessica Burman, the original inventor of the first ever birth to potty pocket nappy (the Wonderoo), Smartipants™ are the true evolution of the modern cloth nappy.
Easy to Use and Reuse:
Smartipants™ are both easy to use and easy to care for. Simply place the self-removing absorbent Smart Sleeve insert into either side of the sleeve, and it will stay snugly in place until you remove the nappy from your baby. Unlike most other pocket nappy style systems, once the Smartipants nappy is removed, there's no need to take out the insert -- it comes out in the wash! So no mess involved! They are as simple as a disposable, but rather than throwing them away, you throw them in the nappy bucket! Simple!
Easy to Wash:
Smartipants™ feature a special suede cloth lining on the inside of the nappy which not only absorbs and traps moisture for a nice dry bottom, it also repels solids. There is no need to rinse or soak your Smartipants, they can just be thrown straight in the bucket ready for wash day. Washing your nappies is simple- a cool rinse cycle is recommended to clear everything out, followed by a 40° wash cycle with 1/3 of your usual amount of detergent and no fabric softener. Your nappies can either be line dried or on an airer, or tumble dried on a low heat. Smartipants are designed to dry completely in just a few of hours.
Leak Guard Technology™:
Smartipants™ have been designed with a unique Leak Guard Technology™ which keeps the moisture inside the insert and away from the sides of the nappy, helping to prevent leaking from the legs. Moisture is kept contained and your baby stays dry!
One Size Fits All:
Smartipants™ Nappies are fully adjustable so that they can be form-fitted to your baby at any age and size, from newborn to toddler. They grow with your baby from approximately 7lbs up to 35lbs. Snap fastenings down the front rise of the nappy enable you to adjust the sizing as and when you need to. One-Size nappy systems are a hugely economical option.
Each nappy comes complete with a super absorbent microfibre Smart Sleeve™ Insert
" Thank you for simplifying nappies so that even my husband now wants to help at changing time!"
" We have a streaking 2 year old, and these are the only snaps he can't undo! "
" I love Smartipants- affordable, one-size and you dont need to touch the dirty insert!"
" As a 'cloth newbie' you couldnt have made a simpler cloth nappy"
Liners: You may choose to use disposable liners inside your Smartipants™ nappies to help with the removal of solids, however these are optional and are not essential. The suede cloth inner layer of the nappies has a 'stay dry' effect to keep the bottom dry, as well 'repelling' solids making the removal of them very easy. This fibre is also less prone to staining.
Nappy Bucket or Hanging Pail: Any lidded bucket or hanging pail can be used to store your wet nappies. There is no need for soaking, they can be thrown into the empty bucket or bag ready for wash day. If using a bucket, mesh bags or pail liners can be used to make transferral of your nappies from the bucket to the machine really easy.
Wet Nappy Bag: This is a waterproof bag to be kept in your changing bag that can be used to store your wet nappies when you are out and about. We recommend the Smart Tote
Boosters: These are optional and may be used if your child is a heavy wetter, or for night-time boosting. We recommend the Little Lamb Bamboo Boosters which can be teamed with your Smartipants Insert perfectly and will provide a good boost in absorbency.

Love these nappies - I just bought one more as I kept running out between washes and even though my original ones have been in use over 8 months the outers still look as good as the brand new one! They are really slim, and have so far fitted my baby really well through different shapes including a very chunky stage. Still on the medium rise even though he is nearly one and 91st centile.Need boosting to last longer than couple of hours but the boosters still come out in the wash and my flip inserts also fit in smartipants. And by far the fastest drying of all my nappies.
I tried this nappy as part of the Try Cloth for £10 programme. My son is 1 year old, average weight with slightly slimmer legs than average and he DOES NOT like to have his nappy changed! This nappy is really great. The insert is very absorbent but still dries quickly. The nappy is a good fit even though my son has slim legs. And it's actually fairly easy to put on for a nappy with poppers. I also like that the insert can be very wet, but the nappy still feels fairly dry to the touch because of the lining. I think that would make it quite comfortable for a baby to wear. We won't be using this nappy going forward because we just don't want a nappy with poppers, but I do rate this nappy very highly.
This nappy is very easy to use. The design is very simple, which I can imagine makes it popular with dads. The sleeve (pocket which opens both ends) is roomy, making it easy to stuff, easy to get the inserts to lie flat and leaves plenty of room for boosting. The elasticated parts around the waist and legs are soft, making it comfortable for the baby. However, I find the design of the leg holes to be a major problem, in that, to get a leak-proof fit around the legs requires the nappy to be far too snug around my son's tum! It is for this reason alone that I'm giving this nappy only 3 stars - perhaps as my son grows, his legs will chunk up enough so that the fit around the them is better! I currently use them as my emergency nappies as I'd rather have leaks than a sore tummy!
We bought 12 of these to use as a day to day nappy, as they were cheaper that the BG, and have been using them for a month. They fit my 4 month old girl very well. The poppers are sturdy and the sleeve is really quick and easy to stuff. They wash well and microfibre inserts dry quickly on an airer. And I particulaly love the brightly coloured ones! However, To make them last any time over 45 mins without leaking we have had to use little lamb bamboo inserts. With these, they last a respectable 3 hours, but the inserts don't always come out in the wash when boosted, so I pull them out before washing. Overall, a good nappy when used with boosters, with good value for money, especially as they are BTP. Smartipants: please make more bright colours!!
I always knew that I wanted to use resuable nappies with my little girl. So after a lot of research I went whole hog and bought the big 24 set of smartipants ready for her arrival. Since we've been using them I've never looked back. They are so easy to use, wash & maintain. As a first time mum & reuseable nappy user I couldn't be happier. The only slight downside is that my daughter was small when she was born and had to grow a lot before she fitted into the smartipants. Also they don't last through the night unless you use an additional booster (little lambs works wonders!).
...and I was pleasantly surprised! Easy to stuff, lasts quite long and dries quickly. They could to a wider range of colours, but that's about my worst criticism.
having used smartipants for 5 mths I still like them. The fit and containment is good, however I have found the do need extra inserts for a one year old. I have been boosting them with little lamb cotton inserts or mothercare smartnappy inserts - this way they last about 3 hours. A good buy
Recently I have become addicted to cloth nappies to the point where my husband is worried about my sanity! However, this means I have been researching and trialing nappies quite extensively!! I tried Bumgenius V4 first, and I was impressed with those, but Smartipants have taken over as my first choice for good all-rounder. We've had one leak, but I think that was my fault as I hadn't fastened the nappy correctly. I do have to boost them with a Little Lamb Bamboo booster, but my son is a very heavy wetter. However, we have had many poonamis, and Smartipants have contained them very well! My only complaint is that they only come with one insert, although I guess they would be more expensive if they provided an extra one, and I quite like the fact I can buy boosters to suit my baby's toilet habits!!In short, a very decent adaptable nappy for a lower price than BG, but not a lower quality.
I was suprised at how good these nappies actually are. They are quite thin and I wasn't expecting them to last long on my toddler. Supprisingly they fit well and lasted a good 3 hours. There are a decent amount of poppers to adjust the nappy to get the right fit too.
I have tried a number of cloth nappies, and smartipants are definitely among the best. They dry really quickly, and wash really well - the lining doesn't go bobbly like many other similar nappies. My only slight criticism is that there is no newborn insert, so they are a bit too bulky on the littler ones.
