Alva Baby Reusable One Size Nappies

Alva Baby nappies have become the best loved brand of economical reusable nappies, for those not wishing to spend a small fortune on cloth.

The Alva One Size nappies are designed to fit both infants and toddlers, and the size can be adjusted using the rows of snaps on the front rise. Simply snap them up, or down for a smaller or a larger fit.

Alva nappies also feature hip and crossover snaps, to prevent "wing droop".

Each nappy comes complete with one absorbent 3-layer microfibre insert. This stuffs inside the pocket of the nappy, and additional boosters can be added for extra absorbency as and when needed.

The outer layer of the nappy is a waterproof and breathable TPU. The Alva nappies also feature an inner layer of polyester suede cloth, which helps to keep your baby dry whilst wicking the moisture away and into the insert. *note, suede cloth is a 100% man-made material and not derived from animals.

Alva Baby Nappy Features

  • Fits from 8-35lbs/3.5kg-16kg approx
  • One year guarantee
  • Comes complete with one 3-layer microfibre insert
  • Hip and Cross-over snaps help to prevent "wing droop"

  • Wash before first use.
  • Place the insert inside the nappy through the open pocket in the back
  • More than one insert may be needed when napping or when extra absorbency is required. We recommend Bamboo Boosters
  • Nappies should be changed every 2-3 hours, and when damp, to help prevent nappy rash

Wash & Care

  • Remove and rinse off the residuals (knock solids into toilet). Disposable liners may be used
  • Store in a dry pail, we recommend a hanging pail, and wash every 1-2 days
  • Run a cold rinse, and machine wash (no hotter than 30ºC)
  • Do not use fabric softeners or bleach
  • Hang dry or tumble dry on a low heat
  • Line drying in the sun will help to remove any staining

What else will I need?

Liners: You may choose to use disposable liners inside your nappies to help with the removal of solids, however these are optional and are not essential.

Nappy Bucket or Hanging Pail: Any lidded bucket or hanging pail can be used to store your wet nappies. There is no need for soaking, they can be thrown into the empty bucket or bag ready for wash day. If using a bucket, mesh bags or pail liners can be used to make transferral of your nappies from the bucket to the machine really easy.

Wet Nappy Bag: This is a waterproof bag to be kept in your changing bag that can be used to store your wet nappies when you are out and about. We recommend the Alva Wet & Dry bag.

Boosters: These are optional and may be used if your child is a heavy wetter, or for night-time boosting. Our fabulous range of nappy boosters can be seen here

Good for the price

Nice pattern and good value. Bought it to try out. Itís not my favourite, but only because I donít like pocket nappies so much. Works well with Alva inserts.

Surprisingly good
Sunday, 26 April 2020  |

I was surprised by how good these nappies are for such a low price. The PUL is good, they are reasonably easy to fit, and the colours and patterns a nice touch.
However, the insert that is provided with the nappy is quite thin and not very absorbent- most babies will need an extra insert in the nappy (such as a Little Lamb bamboo insert that can soak up lots of wee). So if you are considering buying these nappies, you need to factor in the cost of buying the extra inserts too.

Great for the price
Thursday, 26 March 2020  |

I am very happy with these nappies, especially for the price. My baby is 8.5 months old and they fit her well with room to grow. Had no leaks so far including overnight (for 12 hours with 2 inserts).

The slight negative point for me is that the label says to wash at 35į whereas some other reusable nappies say 60į. However, I did have a go at a 60 degree wash for an Alva nappy and it seemed fine, perhaps a tiny bit bobbly inside, so probably best to stick to 40 and just do 60 occasionally.

In some respects these are similar to the Baba and Boo nappy which I've also tried, but are half the price. It's in the balance as to which are better value in the long run! Baba and Boo do seem better quality and come with 2 bamboo inserts.

Pretty patterns but microfibre insert is poor
Monday, 23 March 2020  |

I love the patterns on these nappies! They are quite roomy so think they might suit my skinny 5 month old better once sheís bigger. I stuff another brands bamboo inserts into these nappies instead of the microfibre one that came with the nappy but have found a use for the microfibre insert on the change mat when my daughter has nappy free time.

Fantastic Affordable Nappy
Sunday, 22 March 2020  |

I was a little dubious about switching to reusables, but these are so easy to use. I also have some of the MioSolo nappies, but these ones are definitely my favourite and with them being so affordable and coming with such great patterns you really can't go wrong!

Very economical

We tried these nappies as part of the £10 trial, and although they werenít my absolute favourite they are hard to fault, particularly due to the price! The main thing to note is that itís worth adding a bamboo booster to increase absorbency.

Great Nappies
Thursday, 5 March 2020  |

Beautiful designs, great fit for a range of weights, though you may need an extra insert if you have a heavy weer, weíve had a few leaks but that seems to be when the nappy is on for longer than 2 hours on our 8 month old.

Great nappies
Friday, 28 February 2020  |

Love these nappies! Very cute designs. The cheapest nappies Iíve found. Fit really well and arenít too bulky on my little girl. No leaks so far. Weíre yet to use them at night but for daytime use Iím very happy.

cute designs, but getting leaks
Tuesday, 11 February 2020  |

These nappies have really cute designs on them. They are easy to put on, but we seem to have had quite a few "poonamies". When it's solid it's contained well, but when they are at all runny, it goes everywhere.
We use them with the charcoal nappy inserts and they last all night, which is great. The nappy weighs a tonne in the morning, we went about 11 hours with no leak overnight.

Love this nappy!
Saturday, 8 February 2020  |

After using the cloth nappy trial to experiment with different varieties of cloth nappies, my husband and I settled on this one for daytime use. This is because, not only is it the cheapest of the options we have seen, but also it fitted really well, didn't leak and has loads of really nice patterns too! Also, it seemed to be the fastest to dry. What more could you want?
