Alva Baby Reusable One Size Nappies

Alva Baby nappies have become the best loved brand of economical reusable nappies, for those not wishing to spend a small fortune on cloth.

The Alva One Size nappies are designed to fit both infants and toddlers, and the size can be adjusted using the rows of snaps on the front rise. Simply snap them up, or down for a smaller or a larger fit.

Alva nappies also feature hip and crossover snaps, to prevent "wing droop".

Each nappy comes complete with one absorbent 3-layer microfibre insert. This stuffs inside the pocket of the nappy, and additional boosters can be added for extra absorbency as and when needed.

The outer layer of the nappy is a waterproof and breathable TPU. The Alva nappies also feature an inner layer of polyester suede cloth, which helps to keep your baby dry whilst wicking the moisture away and into the insert. *note, suede cloth is a 100% man-made material and not derived from animals.

Alva Baby Nappy Features

  • Fits from 8-35lbs/3.5kg-16kg approx
  • One year guarantee
  • Comes complete with one 3-layer microfibre insert
  • Hip and Cross-over snaps help to prevent "wing droop"

Tips

  • Wash before first use.
  • Place the insert inside the nappy through the open pocket in the back
  • More than one insert may be needed when napping or when extra absorbency is required. We recommend Bamboo Boosters
  • Nappies should be changed every 2-3 hours, and when damp, to help prevent nappy rash

Wash & Care

  • Remove and rinse off the residuals (knock solids into toilet). Disposable liners may be used
  • Store in a dry pail, we recommend a hanging pail, and wash every 1-2 days
  • Run a cold rinse, and machine wash (no hotter than 30ºC)
  • Do not use fabric softeners or bleach
  • Hang dry or tumble dry on a low heat
  • Line drying in the sun will help to remove any staining

What else will I need?

Liners: You may choose to use disposable liners inside your nappies to help with the removal of solids, however these are optional and are not essential.

Nappy Bucket or Hanging Pail: Any lidded bucket or hanging pail can be used to store your wet nappies. There is no need for soaking, they can be thrown into the empty bucket or bag ready for wash day. If using a bucket, mesh bags or pail liners can be used to make transferral of your nappies from the bucket to the machine really easy.

Wet Nappy Bag: This is a waterproof bag to be kept in your changing bag that can be used to store your wet nappies when you are out and about. We recommend the Alva Wet & Dry bag.

Boosters: These are optional and may be used if your child is a heavy wetter, or for night-time boosting. Our fabulous range of nappy boosters can be seen here

Very economical

We tried these nappies as part of the £10 trial, and although they werenít my absolute favourite they are hard to fault, particularly due to the price! The main thing to note is that itís worth adding a bamboo booster to increase absorbency.

Great Nappies
Thursday, 5 March 2020  |

Beautiful designs, great fit for a range of weights, though you may need an extra insert if you have a heavy weer, weíve had a few leaks but that seems to be when the nappy is on for longer than 2 hours on our 8 month old.

Love these nappies! Very cute designs. The cheapest nappies Iíve found. Fit really well and arenít too bulky on my little girl. No leaks so far. Weíre yet to use them at night but for daytime use Iím very happy.

cute designs, but getting leaks
Tuesday, 11 February 2020  |

These nappies have really cute designs on them. They are easy to put on, but we seem to have had quite a few "poonamies". When it's solid it's contained well, but when they are at all runny, it goes everywhere.
We use them with the charcoal nappy inserts and they last all night, which is great. The nappy weighs a tonne in the morning, we went about 11 hours with no leak overnight.

Love this nappy!
Saturday, 8 February 2020  |

After using the cloth nappy trial to experiment with different varieties of cloth nappies, my husband and I settled on this one for daytime use. This is because, not only is it the cheapest of the options we have seen, but also it fitted really well, didn't leak and has loads of really nice patterns too! Also, it seemed to be the fastest to dry. What more could you want?

Lovely prints but leg holes too big
Tuesday, 21 January 2020  |

I can't seem to get the leg holes small enough for my 12lb boy's thighs. I hope that as he grows this will be possible but for now, it's not a nappy I reach for.

Good value but you get what you pay for
Saturday, 11 January 2020  |

I got one of these to try as they were significantly cheaper. I found the poppers kept opening when I was trying to secure the nappy and I couldnít get the right fit without the fabric digging in. I havenít had these issues with the more premium nappies. That said my little boy does look very cute with a polar bear bum.

The best
Monday, 6 January 2020  |

Love these! Price is great, quality is pretty good, and we rarely have leaks (those we do have seem to pertain largely to baby being less than 4 weeks old - we had more leaks in other brands and in disposables).
Only downside to me is the inserts; not loving the microfibre. Stain easily, don't hold wee quite as long as other brand inserts, and not so good for the environment long term.

Fab!
Sunday, 5 January 2020  |

I bought a mix of brands to start with and these are the ones I have gone back to get more of. They are not only the cheaper option but I find they fit my baby well and they definitely have the cutest designs. Some of the other brands feel bulkier around the waistband but these are smooth. However, we tried using them from birth but none of the brands worked for us. They were all too bulky and we ended up getting overwhelmed and used disposables until we had grasped parenthood enough to add the challenge of reusables. He is 5 months now and I'm so glad I tried again. He tolerates them much better now and we are creating far less waste!

Brilliant nappies
Friday, 18 October 2019  |

These nappies have really lovely designs, they're easy to use and they dry very fast. My little boy is a heavy wetter so i usually have to change his nappy 1.5 to 2 hours so i'm having to buy a fair few to last me a few days so i can do a wash every other day. Really good value for the price.
