Blueberry Cotton Prefolds - 6 Pack

The Blueberry Cotton Prefolds are a luxurious and super thirsty take on the traditional prefold nappy system. Prefolds are as basic as it gets when it comes to cloth nappies, and regardless of the type of nappy system you are using, prefolds are an essential to have around- for the newborn stage, for back ups, and they also make super absorbent night time nappies.

Made with 4 x 8 x 4 layers of 100% cotton twill that gets softer and more absorbent the longer it is used.

Folding Prefolds

The most popular way for newborns and girls is to fold the nappy into thirds.  Lay the prefold with the two parallel stiched lines running horizontally and fold over each other as shown in the diagram.  Lay on top of a waterproof cover and fasten securely to the baby.

prefolds nappies

As boys get older, folding the diaper to create extra padding in front is the most popular.  Lay on top of a waterproof cover and fasten securely to the baby.

bamboo nappies

A modified version of this fold is useful in containing very loose stools, or if you want to secure the diaper with fasteners.

3 Sizes:

Newborn: For babies from 5-10lbs (2-5kg) Measures 12" x 13"

Small:  For babies from 7-15lbs (3-7kg) Measures 12" x 16"

Medium: For babies from 12-25lbs (5-11kg) Measures 14.5" x 17"

Large: For babies from 16-30lbs (7-14kg) Measures 14.5" x 21"

What else will I need?

Waterproof Cover: These nappies require a seperate waterproof cover. We can recommend the GEN-Y Classic, Smart-Fit and Blueberry Coveralls. Unlike the nappy however, these will only need changing when damp or soiled so you should only need a few covers in total.

Nappy Nippas: Depending on how you plan to fold and fasten your prefolds, you may want to use Nappi nippas

Liners: You may choose to use disposable liners inside your nappies to help with the removal of solids, however these are optional and are not essential.

Nappy Bucket or Hanging Pail: Any lidded bucket or hanging pail can be used to store your wet nappies. There is no need for soaking, they can be thrown into the empty bucket or bag ready for wash day. If using a bucket, mesh bags or pail liners can be used to make transferral of your nappies from the bucket to the machine really easy.

Wet Nappy Bag: This is a waterproof bag to be kept in your changing bag that can be used to store your wet nappies when you are out and about. We recommend the Smart Tote

Boosters: These are optional and may be used if your child is a heavy wetter, or for night-time boosting. Our fabulous range of nappy boosters can be seen here

Brilliant for newborn

These worked great for our newborn in the small size. Medium also worked well fairly early on with a bit of creative folding.

We should give prefolds more credit
Sunday, 30 July 2017  |

I actually did not use these prefolds but the ones from Bummis, but they are practically the same.
Prefolds are often underestimated as a nappy options which is scary or complex, and I think that's a shame. Prefolds allowed us to start with cloth from day one, and both me and my partner mastered it very quickly. Even my mom had no issues with the fold and nip technique.
As he grew we adjusted from folding to jellyrolling which makes fitting a smaller nappy on a growing baby more easy, which resulted in a super trip yet perfectly containing nappy. I even add a bamboo booster for the wet hours.
No leaks, no rash, a flexible nappy for multiple uses - what's not to like?
Don't go necessarily for larger sizes - prefolds unlike flats should be sturdy, not big, which is why I would go for the 4-8-4 options such as this and not for the thinner miosoft.
And most importantly for us - this is a super economical option which leaves room in the budget to invest in the very best covers.
I hope this helps

It's okay...
Wednesday, 15 March 2017  |

It's easy to wash and dry quite quickly. But it's too thick when folded compared to peanut shape nappies, so I can't put my daughter down on the floor for a while after feeding, because her big bottom is quite higher than her head and it makes her sick very easily.

Cost effective

I bought these as they were recommended as cheap way to try out cloth nappies and because they provided a better fit for smaller babies. Although a bit more fiddly with having to fold them I didn't find this too difficult. I did find that I needed to change them about every two hours to avoid leaks. Think it's good to have few of these as well as other types of nappy in my selection of nappies while my daughter is smaller.

Slightly smaller than my Bambino Mio ones, but seem a bit thicker and softer. Perfect for daytime use.

Really pleased I went with these prefolds and covers as my newborn cloth diapering option because 7 weeks in, my baby still doesn't fit into some of my all in one nappies because her legs are so skinny.
I use these prefolds with a bamboo booster and have had no leakages when paired with my thirsties covers.
The fabric washes well and I've not had any problems with stains yet. Also dries relatively quickly on a washing line but needs a quick tumble dry to keep the fabric soft.
I soûlent botter with nappi nippas as latine thème into the covers actualité looks less bulky and i found thia méthode gave m'y baby betterave absorbant anyway.

Very absorbent
Wednesday, 15 October 2014  |

I bought these in a size small, they wash well and a every absorbent but the sizing seems quite different to other prefolds, small is more similar in size to new born so of say if you're in doubt about the sizing, go a size up.
