Alva Baby Reusable One Size Nappies

Alva Baby nappies have become the best loved brand of economical reusable nappies, for those not wishing to spend a small fortune on cloth.

The Alva One Size nappies are designed to fit both infants and toddlers, and the size can be adjusted using the rows of snaps on the front rise. Simply snap them up, or down for a smaller or a larger fit.

Alva nappies also feature hip and crossover snaps, to prevent "wing droop".

Each nappy comes complete with one absorbent 3-layer microfibre insert. This stuffs inside the pocket of the nappy, and additional boosters can be added for extra absorbency as and when needed.

The outer layer of the nappy is a waterproof and breathable TPU. The Alva nappies also feature an inner layer of polyester suede cloth, which helps to keep your baby dry whilst wicking the moisture away and into the insert. *note, suede cloth is a 100% man-made material and not derived from animals.

Alva Baby Nappy Features

  • Fits from 8 -35lbs approx
  • One year guarantee
  • Comes complete with one 3-layer microfibre insert
  • Hip and Cross-over snaps help to prevent "wing droop"

Tips

  • Wash before first use.
  • Place the insert inside the nappy through the open pocket in the back
  • More than one insert may be needed when napping or when extra absorbency is required. We recommend Bamboo Boosters
  • Nappies should be changed every 2-3 hours, and when damp, to help prevent nappy rash

Wash & Care

  • Remove and rinse off the residuals (knock solids into toilet). Disposable liners may be used
  • Store in a dry pail, we recommend a hanging pail, and wash every 1-2 days
  • Run a cold rinse, and machine wash (no hotter than 30ºC)
  • Do not use fabric softeners or bleach
  • Hang dry or tumble dry on a low heat
  • Line drying in the sun will help to remove any staining

What else will I need?

Liners: You may choose to use disposable liners inside your nappies to help with the removal of solids, however these are optional and are not essential.

Nappy Bucket or Hanging Pail: Any lidded bucket or hanging pail can be used to store your wet nappies. There is no need for soaking, they can be thrown into the empty bucket or bag ready for wash day. If using a bucket, mesh bags or pail liners can be used to make transferral of your nappies from the bucket to the machine really easy.

Wet Nappy Bag: This is a waterproof bag to be kept in your changing bag that can be used to store your wet nappies when you are out and about. We recommend the Alva Wet & Dry bag.

Boosters: These are optional and may be used if your child is a heavy wetter, or for night-time boosting. Our fabulous range of nappy boosters can be seen here

Affordable and reliable

I purchased 5 of the Alva nappies and so far, I have had zero issues with them. They fit well on my 6 month old daughter and weíve never had them leak. I use the insert they come with along with a Little Lamb bamboo booster as my baby is a heavy wetter but even with the two inserts, they arenít too bulky on her. The cute prints are a bonus too!

Lovely, easy to use nappies
Tuesday, 30 April 2019  |

Being new to cloth, we bought about 30 Alvas and started using when our daughter was around 3 months old. We find them easy to stuff and snap on/off, but do change more frequently than I believe is required with some other nappies (haven't tried any other nappies personally). We change roughly every 2 hours, sometimes more frequently, and are about to try adding the Little Lamb Bamboo boosters to see if we can get a wee bit longer out of each nappy. Our daughter is slim waisted but has chunkier thighs and we find the fit good, so far! (She's nearly 8 months). Great designs.

Great value!

Great value nappies, they worked with the included inserts for around our son's first year, then as he became a heavy wetter we've had to use different inserts. The covers have held up so well, still look amazing after 2 years of use and no damage after constant washing and drying.

As a new mum who wanted to use cloth I bought about 20 or so or these. I could've bought so many more I just loved the designs but I managed to contain myself.

They have not disappointed. They are simple to use and foolproof (for when aunties and other family decide to change our daughter) as they mimic the style of a disposable when it comes to putting them on. We waited until she was 3-4 weeks old and realised they probably would've fitted nicely from 2 weeks.

So far we only use sorting the day but they have not disappointed.

New to cloth Nappies and these are wonderful and so pretty! The nappies themselves are great, the insert fills quite quickly (I have an almost 2 year old who is a heavy wetter) Iím still experimenting with different inserts to find whatís best for him! I canít fault the nappies, especially for the brilliant price!

Not bad

A good budget nappy which seems to be fairly well made and will last as my little one grows. I did find that the insert couldn't keep up with my heavy wetter, but at least it can be swapped out or boosted. I also found the opening for the insert a little small and that the pad tended to bunch up as it was being placed in the nappy.

Really pleased with these nappies. New to using reusables and have found these to be really good. We find we need to use boosters in them all the time. I have a 2 month old baby who is a heavy wetter. Lots of great designs and easy to use.

Great Value Nappy
Tuesday, 16 October 2018  |

We received the Alva nappy as part of the Try Cloth for £10 nappy trial (highly recommended). It is easy to use as a pocket style nappy and comes in a fantastic range of designs. The quality is good especially for the price, very good value. Having said this I felt that it lacks some of the absorbency of other, more expensive nappies as we had a slight issue with leaking (our daughter is a light wetter) so would either need to change more frequently (perhaps every 2 hours rather than 3) or use a booster insert. It washes really well though, dries quickly and is looking better after a couple of times through the washing machine than one of the more expensive nappies we received. I would certainly recommend this nappy if you're looking to start using cloth nappies on a budget!
